Several weeks ago, I went to Vancouver on vacation. One particularly pleasant place I visited was the enormous VanDusen Botanical Garden. Well worth a couple hours of your time if you're in the area, I had a bit of a cloudy day for it but the flowers were still stunning. They also have a hedge maze, which was more disconcerting than I expected it to be.
VanDusen has the traditional placards explaining details about various horticultural elements in the park, but as I saw all over Vancouver, there is also ample historical context on the history of the First Nations people whose unceded land VanDusen and the rest of Vancouver is built on.
